Modern Qigong by Lee Holden is a 30-day online journey into Qi: the natural life force energy inside you and all around you.

Modern Qigong Course: Lee Holden – Mindvalley Review

Modern Qigong is a 30-day online journey into Qi: the natural life force energy inside you and all around you.

On each day of your 30-day journey, you’ll be immersed in 20 minutes of ‘Qi time’: where you’ll experience a direct connection with your life force energy and the energy all around you.

By the end of the program, you’ll know all of your Qigong exercises by heart.

The first step to a successful Qi Gong practice is mindfulness. Mindfulness means your mind is fully present in the moment. Being present and in the space of non-resistance will be vital as you progress in your Qi Gong practice.

  1. Energy cannot be created or destroyed, only transformed from one form to another.
  2. Think of negative energy like stress as compost for your garden.
  3. Use Qi Gong to transform that compost into a fertile garden of positive energy.

When someone hits you with negativity, stress, or criticism, say:

“Thank you for your energy. I’m going to compost that. I’m going to use that to grow a fertile garden of rich positive energy.”

Does Qigong healing really work?

The effectiveness of healing is a subject of ongoing research and debate. Qigong is a traditional Chinese practice that involves coordinated body movements, breath control, and meditation to cultivate and balance the body’s vital energy, known as “qi” or “chi.”

Some studies suggest that practices may have potential health benefits, such as reducing stress, improving flexibility, and enhancing overall well-being.

Additionally, there is some evidence indicating that it may be beneficial for certain medical conditions, including chronic pain, hypertension, and anxiety.

Additionally, individual responses can vary, and it is often considered a complementary approach rather than a replacement for conventional medical treatments.

They can provide guidance based on your individual needs and conditions.

What is Modern Qigong?

Modern Qigong refers to contemporary interpretations and adaptations of traditional Chinese practices.

An ancient Chinese system that integrates physical postures, breath control, meditation, and focused intent to cultivate and balance the body’s vital energy, known as “qi” or “chi.”

It builds upon these ancient principles but often incorporates contemporary insights, scientific understanding, and lifestyle considerations.

Key features of Modern Qigong may include:

  4. Accessibility through Technology: With the advent of online platforms, modern Qigong teachings may be delivered through digital courses, apps, or videos, allowing individuals to learn and practice from the comfort of their homes.

  5. Adaptation for Specific Goals: It may be adapted for specific health goals, such as stress reduction, pain management, or overall vitality. Instructors might tailor practices to address modern health concerns.

Where Does True Power Reside?

Often in life, we are powerless to change things out there. We’re powerless to make people feel differently and change the political environment or the weather.

And we start to stress out when we feel powerless and get all tightened up.

But when you stop trying to control everything, you can relax and discover the true power that comes from within.

You’ve got to sift through the dirt to find those golden nuggets of internal power because no matter what is happening outside, your lifeforce energy, upbeat, elevated emotions, clarity of mind, and deep divine connection are always in your control.

True power resides within.

This is Why Slowing Down Makes You Go Faster:

  1. The power of slowness is the antidote to modern life’s fast-paced and stressful society.

  2. When your mind slows down, you naturally enter into the present moment.

  3. When your body slows down, your health and energy increase.

  4. Slowing down brings the Yin and Yang energies into balance.

Modern Qi Gong originated from the philosophical tradition of Taoism. The “Tao” (or “Dao”) can be translated as “the road,” “the path,” or simply “the way.”

Taoism perceives the Tao as the absolute principle underlying the universe, combining the principles of yin and yang. Think of the Tao as the flow of the Universe or as some essence or pattern that keeps the Universe balanced and ordered.

The secret is to do it daily. Stagnant energy is not suitable for your well-being, and Lee Holden’s teachings will help you get your energy flowing again to be your best every day. I’ve watched videos of Lee on YouTube, and his Qi Gong practice works.

(FYI: Is it Qigong or Qi Gong? I’ve seen it spelled both ways. Many science articles spell it as one word, but Lee spells it as two words.)

Lee Holden is a senior teacher for Mantak Chia, the Taoist master, and has edited several best-selling books on Taoist sexuality.

He is a leading qi gong instructor whose DVD series has been featured on PBS and is the author of 7 Minutes of Magic: Recharge Your Body Each Day with Qi Gong.

Lee Holden is an internationally renowned Qigong expert and instructor. His work across many major media platforms has been instrumental in bringing this ancient practice to the Western world and helping millions of people live better, healthier lives.

Lee’s journey began after suffering an injury while playing soccer for the University of Berkeley, California. Conventional treatments failed him, while Qigong accelerated him toward a full and rapid recovery.

This experience sparked Lee’s lifelong passion for Qigong: which led to decades of study with various institutions and masters – including Grand Master Mantak Chia, one of the world’s foremost experts.

Today, Lee is a qualified doctor in Chinese medicine and a household name on US and Canadian television. His books, classes, and workshops are popular worldwide, even among corporations like Apple and celebrities like Adam Sandler and Rob Schneider.

The Modern Qigong program perfectly encapsulates Lee’s unique approach: an accessible, instantly rewarding experience that awakens the transformation of body, mind, and soul for beginners and enthusiasts alike.

What Is Qigong?

Qigong can be described as a mind-body-spirit practice that improves mental and physical health by integrating posture, movement, breathing technique, self-massage, sound, and focused intent.

There are many styles, schools, traditions, forms, and lineages, each with practical applications and different theories about Qi (“subtle breath” or “vital energy”) and Gong (“skill cultivated through steady practice”).

Qigong opens the energy flow in meridians used in acupuncture and Chinese medicine. It enhances our ability to feel the Life Force (Qi) underlying the physical world and deepens our communication.

Physically, slow, gentle movements warm tendons, ligaments, and muscles; tonify vital organs and connective tissue; and promote circulation of body fluids (blood, synovial, lymph).

Many studies have shown Qigong to effectively address health challenges ranging from high blood pressure and chronic illness to emotional frustration, mental stress, and spiritual crisis.

Its gentle, rhythmic movements reduce stress, build stamina, increase vitality, and enhance the immune system. It has also improved cardiovascular, respiratory, circulatory, lymphatic, and digestive functions.

  1. Qi Gong originated by mirroring the movements of nature.

  2. Qi is about the relationship between ourselves, nature, and the Universe.

  3. When we feel our Qi, we feel connected. We feel that oneness with life.

  4. Our bodies respond to stress by manifesting symptoms such as headaches and pain.

  5. Stress is a just kind of energy, and as such, it can be transformed from one state to another.

  6. When you learn to relax in the face of stress, you can boost the healing energy in your body by transforming stress back into vital life force energy.

  7. Relaxation is who you are. Stress is who you think you should be.

  8. Many people in the Western world are wired and tired because their Yin and Yang energy is muddled and confused.

  9. Yin is the energy of relaxation.

  10. Cultivating Yin energy can calm your mind, relax your body, and help you get quality sleep

Modern Qigong with Lee Holden and Mindvalley is a 30-day online journey into Qi: the natural life force energy inside you and all around you.

Qi – pronounced ‘chee’ – channels life, momentum, and vitality into everything. And Qigong is the art and science of harnessing this energy to heal and rejuvenate your mind, body, and soul.

With Lee Holden’s guidance, you’ll discover how to unblock your Qi.

How to expand and strengthen it. And how to channel it towards different goals and outcomes: recharging your body’s batteries, reversing the effects of aging, stress, and illness, or simply getting back in flow so you can feel and perform at your best.

And no, you won’t need to commit to any esoteric practices or spiritual complexities.

Because as millions of people can attest, Lee has a gift for teaching through simple exercises anyone can do. And that transforms you in just a few enjoyable minutes a day.

Try this Lee Holden Qigong Exercise

Rub your palms vigorously until your hands feel warm (like creating a fire). Bring your hands down to your side and shake your lower arms and wrists like an athlete would before an event.

Shake for 30 seconds to 1 minute. Completely relax with your hands by your side and feel the energy circulating down your arms and into your fingertips.

Simple, easy, and effective. Could you feel your Qi? You’ve already started healing your body without breaking a sweat or changing into workout clothes.

It happens deep inside you when you do this exercise and others like it.

Your life force energy circulates through your body, activating each cell.

As you feel your life force energy, your mind connects to the present moment, and you slip into total relaxation and calmness. While all this happens, you are meditating – it’s called Moving Meditation – with your mind and body.

As you become aware of your life force energy, it moves through your cells, travels through your nervous system, and nourishes everything inside you. You will even feel the tingling and radiant sensations at your fingertips.

Qigong Medical Schools

That’s why significant universities incorporate integrative medicine – such as Qigong – into their medical schools.

For example, the University of Maryland’s Center for Integrative Medicine now features specific Qigong specialists and classes in their medical curriculum – a sign that modern science is finally catching up with this ancient practice.

Proven studies support its ability to help prevent and cure illnesses, including arthritis, stamina, hypertension, stress, high blood pressure, diabetes, depression, and more.

What Qigong does is activate the body’s natural healing ability. All medicine does the same thing, and it tells, programs instruct the body to heal itself.

Lee Holden Modern Qigong Breathing Tips

Your mind is a reflection of your breath, and your breath is a reflection of your mind.

These are general guidelines on breathing and thinking about your breathing during Qi Gong: You’ll generally want to breathe through the nose. This helps calm your nervous system down.

● Take slow, deep, full breaths. Try to connect the movement to your breath.
● Breathe in and out through the nose when you want to cultivate or keep the energy contained.
● Breathe through the nose and out through the mouth when you want to release energy.

Lee will encourage you to exhale out through the mouth during some exercises. This is explicitly done when releasing “old or stagnant energy.” These are called ‘purging” practices. Purging is a term for releasing.

When you are “gathering” or “tonifying,” the breath is in through the nose and out through the nose.

For example, in the “shaking exercise,” you’re releasing tension and stress from your body. You’d breathe in through your nose and exhale out through your mouth to release the energy connected to anxiety and stress.

When you move into the flow portion of your practice, you begin cultivating the energy and emotional state you want for the rest of your day. Then you’d breathe in and out through your nose to contain that positive energy and not release it.

These aren’t complex rules. They’re more like guidelines. If you have a condition that makes it difficult to breathe a certain way, do whatever is most comfortable for you. The same goes for physical limitations.

You will hear Lee say, “No pain, no pain.” Qi Gong isn’t a practice where you must correct movement and form. If you cannot do an activity, modify it to fit your body or visualize yourself doing it.

Students have recovered from surgery, just visualizing themselves practicing Qi Gong in their hospital beds. Their doctors are stunned by how quickly they heal.
