			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>We&#8217;ve become a nation of <a href="http://www.mazzastick.com/2011/06/13/are-you-a-zombie/">zombies</a> whose main motivation is to earn money, eat food and interact with some form of digital media. Is that how you honor your creator?</p>
<p>I know, life can become too much to handle at times and what you really want is the space to do the things you want to do in life. Start now and in no time you will have created the life you had always dreamed of.</p>
<p>Don&#8217;t let others “suck you” into their dream though unless that is part of your dream too. Decide right now exactly what it is you want to create with your life and move towards it through emotional attraction.</p>
<p>Emotional attraction is the act of using your thoughts to imagine desires, and then allowing your energy to pull those things into your life experience. The stronger your desire, the stronger your emotion, the stronger your intent, the quicker it comes to you.</p>
<p>Yes, you still need to move but it does not take as much effort as you think.</p>
<p><em> Time is becoming almost non-existent so you need not worry about it.</em></p>
<p>Take steps regardless of how small or insignificant it may seem to you. Each step will take you closer to your dreams. Many, but not all souls are waking up at this time and remembering who they really are.</p>
<p>You don&#8217;t have to feel obliged to wake others up anymore. There are enough realizations going on for each person and many will choose to ignore the truth and  continue to live life of the &#8220;old world.&#8221;</p>
<p>What do you want? What desire has burned inside of your for far too long? Stop for a few moments and think about this question. What desire has burned inside of you for far too long?</p>
<p>Trust me, you have a burning desire inside of you. You&#8217;ve been distracted for too long with other people&#8217;s desires that you lost the connection to your personal desire.</p>
<p>You need to regroup yourself, you need to re-align again with who you really are and get out of the collective consciousness trap. You are a unique piece of creation, you have unique talents that are to be expressed through you. Do you know this to be true?</p>
<p>Everyday in every way you must stretch yourself as far out of your comfort zone as you possibly can, and then stretch some more. Do this day in and day out and watch how your life transforms right before your eyes.</p>
<p>Everyone will be asking you what your secret is. Tell them that your life began outside of your comfort zone.</p>
<p>Ditch the TV, turn off your computer and silence your cell phone. You need quiet to hear your soul. Your soul does not speak in words, it speaks through feelings. Can you feel it? It&#8217;s talking to you every minute of every day. The question is, do you create quiet time to listen to it?</p>
<p>Your soul has more wisdom than 1000 personal growth guru&#8217;s combined. Stop, get quiet and listen to the soft rumbles of its message.</p>
<p>Your mind will try to interrupt you as it always has, don&#8217;t resist it for that will only make it stronger.</p>
<p>Rather focus on being present and grounded in your body. Take off your shoes if you need to. Relax, let go, enjoy the scenery, hear the sounds of nature. Be free of worldly things for a while and reconnect with the All That Is.</p>

<p><strong>So What Is Hypnosis?</strong></p>
<p>Here is an official definition:</p>
<p>Hypnosis is the induction of a state of consciousness in which a person loses the power of voluntary action and is especially responsive to suggestion or direction.</p>
<p>To go into a little more detail you could say that hypnosis is often over exaggerated. We use the term “hypnosis” to describe a trance like state.</p>
<p>However, essentially we all go in and out of mild “trances” every day; such as in those moments when our minds wander and we daydream, we even enter a hypnosis like state when we simply sit down to read the Sunday paper and give it our full attention &#8211; going into a mini state of hypnosis and blocking the rest of the world out.</p>
<p>These are all examples of trance like states, and they are all natural and safe. All hypnosis does is put you into one of these mild “trance” states purposefully , and over time the hypnotist plants simple, beneficial messages into your subconscious mind.</p>
<p>Far from being asleep or unaware, hypnosis is actually a heightened state in which you are both deeply relaxed but you have a heightened sense of awareness and are open to suggestion.</p>

<p>All these parallel realities already exist at the same time. By shifting your vibration whether higher or lower will determine what experience of Earth you have. When you make these vibrational shifts people may leave your life as “new players” come into your life. If you have any sense of awareness you have noticed this in your life before. Maybe when you went on a spiritual quest some of your friends left your experience as new ones entered.</p>

<p>If you would allow the higher mind to do its job and guide you with different synchroncities and events than you will be where you need to be when you need to be there. The problem is when the physical mind gets stubborn and resists the information.</p>
<p>The higher self is constantly giving information/feedback to the physical mind. The higher mind will never give up when it comes to giving information to the physical mind. The physical mind is often times stubborn and resistant.</p>
<p>What you call “bad things” happening to you are actually a “wake up call” from your higher self. Your higher self has tried to get your attention for some time and as a last resort when all else has failed a “bad experience” or accident may occur to get you back on track.</p>
<p>Everything that happens in your physical reality is based on what you believe to be true. Nothing happens in your reality without you defining it to be true.</p>
<p>If a belief creates a certain unwanted consequence, wouldn&#8217;t you want to <a href="http://www.mazzastick.com/2011/01/13/transforming-limiting-beliefs/">change that belief</a>?</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>In order to be free and truly experience life as it was meant to you must relinquish the desire to control outer events. Nothing outside of you is real even though your experience is very real.</p>
<p>The biggest cause of distress to human is not fear but lack of control. Lack of control causes you to feel the very real need to control. This is the mind at work. You see consciousness takes life as it is, it takes it in stride, but your mind does not. You should know that your mind is not you, The mind is merely a tool, a way to be able to perceive how things happened.</p>
<p>You cannot use your mind to know or understand how or what is going to happen in the future. It can&#8217;t because it is not designed to do that.</p>
<p>You see, you operate on many different levels of awareness and the mind operates only on this level of 3D awareness. Your higher self has the ability to see what lies ahead and if you have a strong connection to the higher self you will always be safe and guided correctly through your life.</p>
<p>The higher self is mission control and you are the man on the moon. Without having mission control to see the big picture the man on the moon would not know what to do next and would feel like he was lost or stuck.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><strong>How to connect with the higher self</strong></p>
<p>Take off your shoes and socks and lie on the floor. Breathe in deeply and exhale slowly three times. Do this for at least three breaths.</p>
<p>As you are lying on the floor open up your crown chakra located just above your head. The easiest way to do this is to simply relax your head. If you can&#8217;t do that than think about something funny. The key is to relax and not tense up your body.</p>
<p>What you are trying to do is make a connection with your higher self. Think of yourself as a cell phone  on a particular frequency range. What you are doing is trying to make a connection with your higher self who is also on a cell phone with a frequency range.</p>
<p>Tune your mind into the cell phone of your higher self and make the call.</p>
<p>Once connected ask for guidance. Open up to receive it, become a real receiver of information from your higher self.</p>
<p>This like anything else in life takes practice, but it does work if you want it to.</p>
<p>What kinds of questions would you ask your higher self? Anything that is a concern to you. It could be a small question like; “should I take this job” or a question with a larger impact like; “should I move to another town.”</p>
<p>The higher self is your mission control center, use it or end up letting some other perceived authority figure guide you through your life.</p>
<p>You may be asking yourself what if I get information that I do not like. Don&#8217;t take it then. You do have free will you know. Learning to trust the guidance from your higher self is an act of surrender.</p>
<p>It takes real courage but what other choice do you have?</p>
<p>You see, your higher self is you. If you cannot trust your higher self than who can you trust?</p>

    The human race has developed a system of
    modern living based on competition,
    materialism, consumption, and exploitation.

    This modern system of living has brought
    mankind to the brink of self-extinction, and
    each of us, in a small way, is responsible
    for this state of affairs.

    The sad truth is that most of us are still
    very content with living within this system.

    Humanity has reached the point of no return,
    and it is no longer realistic to think that
    enough people around the globe will have a
    sudden change of heart.

    But even if the world as a whole will not
    change, we as individuals still can.

    To start, each of us must begin once again to
    see time and reality as cyclical, and not
    linear, as most in the modern world believe
    it to be.

    The Darwinian theory of evolution suggests
    that the human race is in a state of
    unhindered evolution by the process of
    natural selection.

    This implies that we, as a race, are becoming
    more intelligent than our ancestors with each
    passing generation.

    The theory further suggests that we are in a
    state of perpetual progress, through linear time,
    which only moves forward.

    This is in opposition to the view held by all
    ancient civilisations, who knew that time is
    cyclical, and that world ages repeat
    themselves.

    In ancient astrology, the term 'world age'
    signifies the time period between two great
    purifications, that is, cycles of great
    destruction and re-creation.

    According to the ancients, the perilous
    situation we find ourselves in today is
    nothing new, and it was very much
    predicted and expected.

    Humanity was faced with the same situation
    about 12,000 years ago, when great floods
    destroyed flourishing civilisations which
    had become overly materialistic as they
    too approached the end of their age.

    Through massive catastrophes, significant
    portions of humanity die, and we start the
    cycle again, all as a very natural and
    cyclical process of life and death.

    Unlike Darwin had theorized, we evolve in
    these cycles of time rather than evolving
    along a path of linear time.

    Albert Einstein, in his special theory of
    relativity, points out that the space-time
    continuum, which defines the physics of
    the perceivable universe, is curved.

    Anything which is curved is part of a circle;
    it is not a plane, and nothing in our
    universe, including time, is linear.

    This cycle of destruction and creation has
    happened before, and it is about to happen
    again.

    Nearly all of us have experienced this cycle
    in ages past, and we will experience it again
    and again, until we begin to focus our
    attention on learning the true meaning of
    life.

    When we do this, we will begin to grow on the
    true evolutionary ladder, which has nothing
    to do with Darwin.

    All knowledge about the meaning of life and
    how it should be lived is inherent within
    our mind.

    It is up to each of us to discover the true
    meaning of life by inquiring within our own
    minds.

    If someone tells you how you should live,
    what you should do, what your path might be,
    and if you follow that road, it will lead
    you nowhere.

    Each of us has a different path which we
    are to find on our own.

    Learning along our path is a continuous and
    effortless process, but one must stay awake
    mentally, and not allow oneself to be
    influenced by the conditioning of this world.

    One can only stay awake mentally with a mind
    that is not already conditioned by society,
    rules, orthodoxy, nationality, religion,
    and so on.

    The awareness and sensitivity needed to see
    the truth is inherent in all of us when we
    are children, but these gifts are smothered
    out of us through modern education.

    Modern education is a means to promote
    conformity and to condition our young in
    order to preserve the established social
    patterns of this corrupt system.

    A free mind of an aware individual has the
    capacity to get to the truth of any matter,
    even the most difficult of questions.

    Inquiry is the first step, and contemplation
    on the inquiry is the second step.

    With inquiry, we may seek counsel from
    outside sources, but without a mind that is
    free of conditioning, it all leads nowhere.

    At this critical point in time, at the end of
    this age, aware individuals must move away
    from this dying system, and begin to create a
    new, self-sustainable future in harmony with
    the forces of nature.

    Each of us should come together in a spirit
    of complete brotherhood, and thus present an
    example as a witness to others.

    We must create together, first in our minds
    and then in reality, a society without fear,
    prejudice, greed and competition.

    This society must facilitate right
    relationships on all levels, and impart a
    correct education to coming generations.

    Anyone who is sincerely willing to do this
    will not fail, because if one is completely
    convinced of an idea with the whole of his
    being, then his actions will automatically

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<h2><span style="font-size: small;">Anxiety is defined as a state of apprehension or fear resulting from the anticipation of a real or imagined threat, event, or situation. It is one of the most common human emotions experienced by people at some point in their lives.</span></h2>
<p>However, most people who have never experienced a panic attack, or extreme anxiety, fail to realize the terrifying nature of the experience. Extreme dizziness, blurred vision, tingling and feelings of breathlessness—and that’s just the tip of the iceberg!</p>
<p>When these sensations occur and people do not understand why, they feel they have contracted an illness, or a serious mental condition. The threat of losing complete control seems very real and naturally very terrifying.</p>
<p><span style="font-size: small;">Anxiety can often feel like a thick fog has surrounded your mind. Nothing really seems enjoyable as you are always looking out at the world through this haze of anxious thoughts and feelings. This fog steals the joy out of life and can make you feel removed or cut off from the world.</span></p>
<p>The anxious thoughts act as a barrier to experiencing the world and this sensation of separation then leads to feeling even more upset as you fear losing touch with yourself.</p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium;"><strong>Fight/Flight Response: One of the root causes of panic attacks?</strong></span></p>
<p>I am sure most of you have heard of the fight/flight response as an explanation for one of the root causes of panic attacks. Have you made the connection between this response and the unusual sensations you experience during and after a panic attack episode?</p>
<p>Anxiety is a response to a danger or threat. It is so named because all of its effects are aimed toward either fighting or fleeing from the danger. Thus, the sole purpose of anxiety is to protect the individual from harm. This may seem ironic given that you no doubt feel your anxiety is actually causing you great harm…perhaps the most significant of all the causes of panic attacks.</p>
<p>However, the anxiety that the fight/flight response created was vital in the daily survival of our ancient ancestors—when faced with some danger, an automatic response would take over that propelled them to take immediate action such as attack or run. Even in today’s hectic world, this is still a necessary mechanism. It comes in useful when you must respond to a real threat within a split second.</p>
<p>Anxiety is a built-in mechanism to protect us from danger. Interestingly, it is a mechanism that protects but does not harm.</p>
<p>The Physical Manifestations of a Panic Attacks: Other pieces of the puzzle to understand the causes of panic attacks. Nervousness and Chemical Effects…</p>
<p>When confronted with danger, the brain sends signals to a section of the nervous system. It is this system that is responsible for gearing the body up for action and calms the body down and restores equilibrium. To carry out these two vital functions, the autonomic nervous system has two subsections, the sympathetic nervous system and the parasympathetic nervous system.</p>
<p>Although I don’t want to become too “scientific,” having a basic understanding of the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous system will help you understand the causes of panic attacks.</p>
<p>The sympathetic nervous system is the one we tend to know all too much about because it primes our body for action, readies us for the “fight or flight” response, while the parasympathetic nervous system is the one we love dearly as it serves as our restoring system, which returns the body to its normal state.</p>
<p>When either of these systems is activated, they stimulate the whole body, which has an “all or nothing” effect. This explains why when a panic attack occurs, the individual often feels a number of sensations throughout the body.</p>
<p>The sympathetic system is responsible for releasing the adrenaline from the adrenal glands on the kidneys. These are small glands located just above the kidneys. Less known, however, is that the adrenal glands also release adrenaline, which functions as the body’s chemical messengers to keep the activity going. When a panic attack begins, it does not switch off as easily as it is turned on. There is always a period of what would seem increased or continued anxiety, as these messengers travel throughout the body. Think of them as one of the physiological causes of panic attacks, if you will.</p>
<p>After a period of time, the parasympathetic nervous system gets called into action. Its role is to return the body to normal functioning once the perceived danger is gone. The parasympathetic system is the system we all know and love, because it returns us to a calm relaxed state.</p>
<p>When we engage in a coping strategy that we have learned, for example, a relaxation technique, we are in fact willing the parasympathetic nervous system into action. A good thing to remember is that this system will be brought into action at some stage whether we will it or not. The body cannot continue in an ever-increasing spiral of anxiety. It reaches a point where it simply must kick in, relaxing the body. This is one of the many built-in protection systems our bodies have for survival.</p>
<p>You can do your best with worrying thoughts, keeping the sympathetic nervous system going, but eventually it stops. In time, it becomes a little smarter than us, and realizes that there really is no danger. Our bodies are incredibly intelligent—modern science is always discovering amazing patterns of intelligence that run throughout the cells of our body. Our body seems to have infinite ways of dealing with the most complicated array of functions we take for granted. Rest assured that your body’s primary goal is to keep you alive and well.</p>
<p>Not so convinced?</p>
<p>Try holding your breath for as long as you can. No matter how strong your mental will is, it can never override the will of the body. This is good news—no matter how hard you try to convince yourself that you are gong to die from a panic attack, you won’t. Your body will override that fear and search for a state of balance. There has never been a reported incident of someone dying from a panic attack.</p>
<p>Remember this next time you have a panic attack; the causes of panic attacks cannot do you any physical harm. Your mind may make the sensations continue longer than the body intended, but eventually everything will return to a state of balance. In fact, balance (homeostasis) is what our body continually strives for.</p>
<p>The interference for your body is nothing more than the sensations of doing rigorous exercise. Our body is not alarmed by these symptoms. Why should it be? It knows its own capability. It’s our thinking minds that panic, which overreact and scream in sheer terror! We tend to fear the worst and exaggerate our own sensations. A quickened heart beat becomes a heart attack. An overactive mind seems like a close shave with schizophrenia. Is it our fault? Not really—we are simply diagnosing from poor information.</p>
<p>Cardiovascular Effects Activity in the sympathetic nervous system increases our heartbeat rate, speeds up the blood flow throughout the body, ensures all areas are well supplied with oxygen and that waste products are removed. This happens in order to prime the body for action.</p>
<p>A fascinating feature of the “fight or flight” mechanism is that blood (which is channeled from areas where it is currently not needed by a tightening of the blood vessels) is brought to areas where it is urgently needed.</p>
<p>For example, should there be a physical attack, blood drains from the skin, fingers, and toes so that less blood is lost, and is moved to “active areas” such as the thighs and biceps to help the body prepare for action.</p>
<p>This is why many feel numbness and tingling during a panic attack-often misinterpreted as some serious health risk-such as the precursor to a heart attack. Interestingly, most people who suffer from anxiety often feel they have heart problems. If you are really worried that such is the case with your situation, visit your doctor and have it checked out. At least then you can put your mind at rest.</p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium;"><strong>Respiratory Effects</strong></span></p>
<p>One of the scariest effects of a panic attack is the fear of suffocating or smothering. It is very common during a panic attack to feel tightness in the chest and throat. I’m sure everyone can relate to some fear of losing control of your breathing. From personal experience, anxiety grows from the fear that your breathing itself would cease and you would be unable to recover. Can a panic attack stop our breathing? No.</p>
<p>A panic attack is associated with an increase in the speed and depth of breathing. This has obvious importance for the defense of the body since the tissues need to get more oxygen to prepare for action.</p>
<p>The feelings produced by this increase in breathing, however, can include breathlessness, hyperventilation, sensations of choking or smothering, and even pains or tightness in the chest. The real problem is that these sensations are alien to us, and they feel unnatural.</p>
<p>Having experienced extreme panic attacks myself, I remember that on many occasions, I would have this feeling that I couldn’t trust my body to do the breathing for me, so I would have to manually take over and tell myself when to breathe in and when to breathe out. Of course, this didn’t suit my body’s requirement of oxygen and so the sensations would intensify—along with the anxiety. It was only when I employed the technique I will describe for you later, did I let the body continue doing what it does best—running the whole show.</p>
<p>Importantly, a side-effect of increased breathing, (especially if no actual activity occurs) is that the blood supply to the head is actually decreased. While such a decrease is only a small amount and is not at all dangerous, it produces a variety of unpleasant but harmless symptoms that include dizziness, blurred vision, confusion, sense of unreality, and hot flushes.</p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium;"><strong>Other Physical Effects of Panic Attacks:</strong></span></p>
<p>Now that we’ve discussed some of the primary physiological causes of panic attacks, there are a number of other effects that are produced by the activation of the sympathetic nervous system, none of which are in any way harmful.</p>
<p>For example, the pupils widen to let in more light, which may result in blurred vision, or “seeing” stars, etc. There is a decrease in salivation, resulting in dry mouth. There is decreased activity in the digestive system, which often produces nausea, a heavy feeling in the stomach, and even constipation. Finally, many of the muscle groups tense up in preparation for “fight or flight” and this results in subjective feelings of tension, sometimes extending to actual aches and pains, as well as trembling and shaking.</p>
<p>Overall, the fight/flight response results in a general activation of the whole bodily metabolism. Thus, one often feels hot and flushed and, because this process takes a lot of energy, the person generally feels tired and drained.</p>
<p>Mental Manifestations: Are the causes of panic attacks all in my head? Is a question many people wonder to themselves.</p>
<p>The goal of the fight/flight response is making the individual aware of the potential danger that may be present. Therefore, when activated, the mental priority is placed upon searching the surroundings for potential threats. In this state one is highly-strung, so to speak. It is very difficult to concentrate on any one activity, as the mind has been trained to seek all potential threats and not to give up until the threat has been identified. As soon as the panic hits, many people look for the quick and easiest exit from their current surroundings, such as by simply leaving the bank queue and walking outside. Sometimes the anxiety can heighten, if we perceive that leaving will cause some sort of social embarrassment.</p>
<p>If you have a panic attack while at the workplace but feel you must press on with whatever task it is you are doing, it is quite understandable that you would find it very hard to concentrate. It is quite common to become agitated and generally restless in such a situation. Many individuals I have worked with who have suffered from panic attacks over the years indicated that artificial light—such as that which comes from computer monitors and televisions screens—can can be one of the causes of panic attacks by triggering them or worsen a panic attack, particularly if the person is feeling tired or run down.</p>
<p>This is worth bearing in mind if you work for long periods of time on a computer. Regular break reminders should be set up on your computer to remind you to get up from the desk and get some fresh air when possible.</p>
<p>In other situations, when during a panic attack an outside threat cannot normally be found, the mind turns inwards and begins to contemplate the possible illness the body or mind could be suffering from. This ranges from thinking it might have been something you ate at lunch, to the possibility of an oncoming cardiac arrest.</p>
<p>The burning question is: Why is the fight/flight response activated during a panic attack even when there is apparently nothing to be frightened of?</p>
<p>Upon closer examination of the causes of panic attacks, it would appear that what we are afraid of are the sensations themselves—we are afraid of the body losing control. These unexpected physical symptoms create the fear or panic that something is terribly wrong. Why do you experience the physical symptoms of the fight/flight response if you are not frightened to begin with? There are many ways these symptoms can manifest themselves, not just through fear.</p>
<p>For example, it may be that you have become generally stressed for some reason in your life, and this stress results in an increase in the production of adrenaline and other chemicals, which from time to time, would produce symptoms….and which you perceive as the causes of panic attacks.</p>
<p>This increased adrenaline can be maintained chemically in the body, even after the stress has long gone. Another possibility is diet, which directly affects our level of stress. Excess caffeine, alcohol, or sugar is known for causing stress in the body, and is believed to be one of the contributing factors of the causes of panic attacks (Chapter 5 of the <a href="http://Mazzastick.panicaway.hop.clickbank.net" rel="no follow" target="_blank"><strong>Panic Away Program</strong></a> gives a full discussion on diet and its importance).</p>
<p>Unresolved emotions are often pointed to as possible trigger of panic attacks, but it is important to point out that eliminating panic attacks from your life does not necessarily mean analyzing your psyche and digging into your subconscious. The “One Move” technique will teach you to deal with the present moment and defuse the attack along with removing the underlying anxiety that sparks the initial anxiety.</p>
<p><strong>So how do you get anxious fog to lift from your mind?</strong></p>
<p>When someone is very caught up in anxious thoughts they are top heavy so to speak. The constant mental activity they are engaged in has caused an imbalance where all of their focus is on their mental anxieties.</p>
<p>A powerful way to move out of this anxious mental fog is to switch your focus from your head to your heart.</p>
<p>By simply making a deliberate shift of attention to your heart you will find the anxious thoughts dissipate more easily and the mental fog starts to gradually clear.</p>
<p><strong>You can make this switch by practicing the art of gratitude.</strong></p>
<p>I am sure you have heard of people speaking about the art of gratitude and the benefits it can bring to you.</p>
<p>Did you know that it has now been scientifically proven that regular practice of gratitude can dramatically change your bodies chemistry giving way to a more peaceful body and mind.</p>

<p>I am going to outline the technique briefly in a very straight forward exercise so you can start practicing right now.</p>
<p>When you practice this exercise you will feel a lightness and greater sense of perspective on any matter that has been troubling you. This activation of your heart emotion will lift the sensation that anxious thoughts create.</p>
<p>This is a very simple exercise but it is really powerful. Print it off and try it someplace where you can be alone.</p>
<p><strong>Are you ready?</strong></p>
<p>-Begin by closing your eyes and moving your attention to your heart area.</p>
<p>-Imagine a feeling of warmth emanating from the center of your chest.</p>
<p>If appropriate place your right hand there. If you are around people or driving etc. simply imagine your right hand resting on your heart area.</p>
<p>Imagine this area glowing warmly for one to two minutes.</p>
<p>-Now, begin to focus on something in your life that you feel a genuine sense of appreciation for.</p>
<p>This can be one or more things that you really appreciate having in your life (e.g., family, health, friends, work, your home, a beautiful day etc).</p>
<p>It is important to focus on things that spark a real sense of gratitude and appreciation. If you really appreciate the thing you are thinking about, you will immediately feel a response from that area by way of a light warm sensation in your chest or an involuntary smile (remember those).</p>
<p>It does not really matter what you think about as long as it evokes this feeling of warm appreciation from your heart area.</p>
<p><strong>Don’t struggle with this exercise.</strong> Everyone has something they can be grateful for. (Remember, the cemetery is full of people who would love to have your problems!)</p>
<p>Do not worry if you are thinking of your partner/family and you do not feel this. Some days it will be people close to you that will spark the heart feeling, other days it may be gratitude for very simple things like the fresh air you breath. It depends on the mood you are in, -remember it is the feeling you after.</p>
<p>The feeling we are looking to achieve is unmistakable, it is a positive change in your emotional state.</p>
<p>I say it is best to do this exercise alone because you will need to stay with this feeling for as long as you can.</p>
<p>Then, when you feel you have taken it as far as you can, open your eyes.</p>
<p>There is no time frame on this exercise, it can be a few minutes to half an hour. Again it is about establishing a heart/mind connection and getting your awareness out of the anxious thoughts and more into your body.</p>
<p>After a few attempts you can incorporate this into your daily routine.</p>
<p>Do it in the car. Do it sitting at your desk. Do it before you sleep at night.</p>
<p><strong>You have to practice it frequently.</strong> Just like a muscle your heart will get more accustomed to this state and you will be able to switch into that feeling in seconds.</p>
<h2><span style="font-size: medium;">Why Distraction Helps Ease Anxiety</span></h2>
<p>In order to quickly move away from generalized anxiety you need to throw yourself 100% into life.</p>
<p>What is needed is to engage regularly in an activity that stimulates you, and holds your complete attention, something in which you can become completely absorbed.</p>
<p>Something that distracts you is a very valuable tool in taking your attention away from the uncomfortable sensation of anxiety that may be lingering in your body.</p>
<p>You see almost everyone with anxiety finds themselves getting a bit obsessed about how they feel at any given moment. The less preoccupied the person is, the more time there is to obsess over-anxious sensations.</p>
<p>I am sure you have noticed that when you are doing something you enjoy or that really holds your attention, the less you ‘check in’ to measure your anxiety level.</p>
<p>Quite simply, the more you engage with life the less stagnant and anxious you will feel.</p>
<p><strong>Some of the possible activities that interest you could be:</strong></p>
<p>Gardening, playing a musical instrument, art work,sports, or simply having a conversation with a good friend. The idea here is to find something that you can repeat on a regular basis that you enjoy doing or that at very least holds your attention.</p>
<p>The art of distraction has always been used to help people refocus and avoid concentrating on whatever physical or emotional discomfort the person is going through. It may just be the caring friend who invites their recently heart-broken roommate out on the town to have some fun.</p>
<p>Dentists and doctors use distraction techniques frequently to distract the patient from a physical discomfort they may be experiencing, by giving them something else to focus on (usually the bill).</p>
<p>The purpose of using distraction, for people who want to live anxiety free, is to have new experiences that take the person’s mind off the anxious feelings they have been experiencing.</p>
<p>If you imagine that all the fearful anxious thoughts that go through your mind are like a roll of film being run through a film projector (your mind) and out into your life. Concentrating on some activity immediately cuts the film and brings you directly into the here and now.</p>
<p>When you are fully engaged with life there is no room for any anxiety disorder. This mental space you create enables both your body and mind time to become less sensitized to the anxiety.</p>
<p>By doing something you enjoy and feel you are good at, helps build new competencies. You are saying to yourself that the anxiety path is not one you want to travel down anymore and that you will put your focus elsewhere.</p>
<p>The more time you give to following these rewarding pursuits, the easier it is for your body to relax and return to a natural state of peace.</p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium;"><strong>Put an end to anxious thoughts</strong></span></p>
<p><strong>To begin with:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>-when you start to experience anxious thoughts, it is very important not to force the thoughts away.</li>
</ul>
<p>Let the thoughts in. The more comfortable you can become with them, the better. These thoughts will never go away fully but what you can learn is to change your reaction to them.</p>
<p>By changing your reaction to the anxious thoughts you become free of them.</p>
<p>Once you establish a new way of reacting to the thoughts it does not matter if you have them or not. Your reaction is what defines the whole experience (and that applies to almost everything).</p>
<p>Everybody experiences fleeting thoughts that many would consider scary or crazy. The difference between most people and somebody who gets caught up in them, is that the average person sees them for exactly what they are, fleeting anxious thoughts, and casually ignores them.</p>
<p>The anxious person is at a disadvantage as they already have a certain level of anxiety in their system. The thoughts easily spark feelings of further anxiety which builds into a cycle of fear. You break the cycle by changing how you react to the fearful thought.</p>
<p><strong>Here is an example of how to approach this:</strong></p>
<p>You are enjoying the way your day is going but then all of sudden a fearful thought comes to mind.</p>
<p>Before you would react with anxiety to the idea and then try to force that thought out of your mind.</p>
<p>This time, however, say:</p>
<p>“That’s a fear of X. I could worry and even obsess over that but this time I’m going to do something different. I’m not going to react to it. I’m also not going to try and stop it either. I’m just going to label the thought and not react.”</p>
<p>Then the thought comes again with more intensity and possibly with new ‘scary’ angles you never considered. When this happens you do exactly the same. As if you were observing a cloud passing overhead, you simply</p>
<ul>
<li>-Observe it,</li>
<li>-Label it (fear of whatever), then</li>
<li>-Watch it as it passes by with no judgment.</li>
<li>-Move your attention on to what you were doing.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Observe, Label, Watch, Move on.</strong></p>
<p>See the anxious thought for what it really is: -one of the thousands of fleeting sane and insane thoughts every one of us experiences daily.</p>
<p>If you are a more indoors type of person then instead of thinking of the thoughts like clouds passing in the sky, you might try imagining a large cinema screen and the anxious thoughts are projected out onto the screen in front of you. Play around with this approach. Find what works for you.</p>
<p><strong>The key thing to remember is to:</strong></p>
<p>Observe, Label, Watch, Move on</p>
<p>By practicing this approach you gradually stop reacting with fear to the thought and you learn to treat it as nothing more than an odd peculiarity.</p>
<p><strong>When you are at a stage where you are comfortable doing the above exercise and you feel you are making good progress, then try this additional step:</strong></p>
<p>Actually invite one of your more regular fearful thoughts in.</p>
<p>Call the fear to you, say you just want it to come close so you can observe it.</p>
<p>It may seem like the last thing you would wish to bring upon yourself, as you don’t particularly enjoy these thoughts but this approach can be very empowering. You are now calling the shots. You actually invited the issue in.</p>
<p>By doing this you are discharging the dense vibration of fear surrounding the anxious thought. That fear was sustaining itself on your resistance, -the idea that you could not handle these thoughts.</p>
<p>The fear quickly evaporates when you turn around and say “yes of course I can handle these thoughts.”</p>
<p>Fear intensifies when we pull away from it. Anxious thoughts become a mental tug of war if we struggle with them.</p>
<p>It is the mental struggle of pulling against the anxious thoughts that creates the inner psychological tension.</p>
<p><strong>The inner tension is fueled by thoughts like:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>“I can’t handle to think about this -please go away”</li>
<li>“I don’t like that thought- I want it to stop!”</li>
</ul>
<p>Take a different stance. Invite anxious thoughts in. Willingly sit with them, label them and do your very best not to react.</p>
<p>Yes, it does take practice but very soon you find yourself in a unique position of control. You are no longer a victim of fearful thinking but a decision maker in what you will or will not be concerned about.</p>
<p>As with every technique there is always a level of practice involved in the beginning. Initially you start observing but then suddenly get anxious about the fearful thought. That’s very normal in the beginning.</p>
<p>Keep at it. Practice and you will quickly see how less impacting those fearful thoughts become.</p>
<p>Do not let your mind trick you into believing that your anxiety is something you will always have to struggle with. That is simply not true.</p>

<p>I would also add in all the electronic devices that we use today too.</p>
<p>I do spend a good amount of my time online because of my blog, but I also make a point to get up at least every thirty minutes and do something physical for a few minutes. Maybe I will do some dishes, prepare some food, or do some stretches. The key is to get grounded back in this reality because this re-connects me physically and energetically.</p>
<p>When we are on electronic devices we can connect with other people, but we are going through the electronic device which is not the same as connecting directly person to person.</p>
<p>I believe humanity has been so distracted, so disconnected for so long that we have forgotten how to make a real connection with this reality and the people in it.</p>
<p>Secondly the health effects of cell phones and other electronic devices has scientific gaps in our scientific knowledge.</p>
<p>The body is an electrochemical system and anything that imbalances that is going to have negative consequences physically, mentally and emotionally, all of which, on one level are electrochemical phenomena.</p>
<p>Just look around at the amount of cell phone towers and tetra masts in your community. It&#8217;s astounding all the electromagnetic pollution that is spiraling around us.</p>
<p>Dr Paul Rosch, clinical professor of medicine and psychology at the New York Medical College, said:</p>
<p>“It is generally not appreciated that there is a cumulative effect (on our bodies) and that talking on the cell phone for an hour a day for 10 years can add up to 10,000 watts of radiation. That&#8217;s 10 times more than you get from putting your head in a microwave.</p>
<p>Look at the effect of analogue television frequencies alone. Did you know that they – and cellphone frequencies – prevent us from receiving radio waves from whole galaxies? The very mainstream science magazine, New Scientist, reported in its edition back in November, 2009:</p>
<p>U.S. Skies are clearer than usual after the switch in June from analogue to digital TV freed up a chunk of the radio spectrum. Astronomers are now rushing to see what they can find before transmissions from cellphone companies and others fill in the space.</p>
<p>Prior to the switch-over, naturally occurring radio waves at frequencies between 700 and 800 megahertz were obscured by analogue TV signals, preventing astronomers from investigating the universe using this band.</p>
<p>The freeing up of this bandwidth is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see galaxies in this range. The new window may also help in the hunt for pulsars – neutron stars that emit beams of radio waves from their poles.</p>
<p>In this part of the spectrum, their beams are less impeded by interstellar electrons, which can scatter radio waves.</p>

<p>For people with Electromagnetic Hypersensitivity Syndrome (EHS), just walking into a coffee shop that is WI-FI equipped can be debilitating, triggering a wide array of symptoms including headache, fatigue, nausea, burning and itchy skin, and muscle aches.</p>

<p>One of the hardest things to do in the world is to say “No”.</p>
<p>Whether it’s saying “no” to our partner, a friend, or a work colleague, it can be near painful to force ourselves to turn someone down. After all, we want to help, and we want to show that we care and prove our friendship/love/co-operation to them. But even if by saying “yes” we put ourselves in an uncomfortable position, we still say it.</p>
<p>We keep saying “yes” over and over even when our own patience is beginning to wear thin, or we start to feel tired and exhausted from the frequent requests for our time, attention, and energy. This is because if we say “no”, we feel that we are letting the other person down.</p>
<p>We feel we’re violating the trust between us, and proving that we aren’t worthy of their love and respect. So we say “yes” in a misguided attempt to preserve that ‘healthy’ relationship.</p>
<p>But we can still say “no” and feel good about it &#8211; we can decline a request without feeling that we have damaged the relationship. We can even say “no” freely and still maintain our self-confidence.</p>
<p>Here are a number of reasons for feeling good about saying “no”.</p>
<p><strong>You’re Putting Yourself First Before Others</strong></p>
<p>Without a doubt, I believe that the most important person in each of our lives is <em>ourselves</em>.</p>
<p>We all have responsibility for only one person in our lives, ourselves. Our minds are our own, our bodies and souls are our own, and our thoughts, behaviours, and actions are all governed by ourselves, and no-one else.</p>
<p>We&#8217;re all important on an equal basis, and yet there are some people who will disregard this ‘self-importance’ and put others before themselves. They will set aside their own well-being and ‘give’ themselves over to the other person, forgetting that they too have a right to live their life how they want.</p>
<p>When you say “no” to someone, whether it’s your parent trying to tell you what to do, or your friend asking you to cover for them yet again, you are putting yourself before them. You are telling them <em>and </em>yourself that you value your own life and freedom, and that you won’t let it be comprised by what they want you to do.</p>
<p>By saying “no”, you grant yourself the respect that you deserve. You are not putting the other person down by insulting them or trying to order them around. Instead, you are simply saying that your time and your life is precious to you, and if you don’t feel that you want to grant their request, then you don’t have to.</p>
<p><strong>You’re Freeing Up More Room For Your Own Life</strong></p>
<p>I’m sure that you, like anyone else, have dreams.</p>
<p>We all have dreams which we’d love to fulfill – perhaps you’d like to travel the world and visit far-away countries? Or you’d like to buy that bigger house with the swimming pool? Or you’d like to help end world hunger and save the lives of thousands who are less fortunate?</p>
<p>Unfortunately, you won’t have enough time in your life to accomplish your dreams if you keep giving it away to other people.</p>
<p>When you say “yes” to someone, you’re granting their request. By granting their request, you’re giving up your own time to help them accomplish their goals and dreams. Doing homework for your child means they can spend time playing on their video games or with friends. Helping a friend clean up their house means they can relax and flip through a magazine.</p>
<p>Your time has been allocated to them, and <em>you don’t get that time back</em>.</p>
<p>So free up room for your own life and your own dreams by saying “no” more often. Your life can only be filled with so much, and the less room you use for accommodating other people’s lives, the more available room you have for your own life.</p>
<p><strong>Saying No To Others Is Saying Yes To Yourself</strong></p>
<p>“Yes” and “no” are polar opposites – they can’t exist without each other. If “no” didn’t exist, then “yes” wouldn’t exist, and vice-versa. So, we can’t say “yes” or “no” without saying the opposite at the same time <em>to someone or something else</em>.</p>
<p>For example, if we had a choice between helping our parents with some chores and going to a local football game, we would have to say “yes” to one of these choices, and “no” to the other. Whenever we say “yes” or “no” to something, we say the opposite to something else.<strong></strong></p>
<p>This is what happens when we say “yes” to someone’s request – <em>we are saying “no” to ourselves</em>. Whenever we value someone’s else time and grant their request, we lose time which we could spend for ourselves. It’s a constant ‘swinging of the scales’ – we can either use the time we have for ourselves, or we can use it for other people.</p>
<p>This isn’t to say that we should always focus on ourselves and not do any favours for anyone else, but we need to be aware of how often we give up our time for other people and take back some of our time and our life if we feel we’re giving away too much of it.</p>
<p>When we say “no” to someone, the law of opposites comes into play and we automatically say “yes” to ourselves. As I’ve mentioned, we are the most important people in our own lives – any time we take to value ourselves is time well spent.</p>
<p><strong>It’s A Limiting Belief To Feel You ‘Have’ To Say Yes</strong></p>
<p>It was Mahatma Gandhi who once said “I will not let anyone walk through my mind with dirty feet”, and he had a valid point.</p>
<p>What Gandhi referred to as ‘dirty feet’ were the negative words and behavior that people employ to try and gain control over others. I’ve identified this process as a <a href="http://limitlessbelieving.com/limiting-people-part-2/" rel="no follow">‘limit chain’</a>, where someone who possesses a limiting belief (dirty feet) attempts to pass this onto someone else, so as to justify their own limiting belief.</p>
<p>Feeling that we have to say “yes” all the time is a popular limiting belief as it limits what we can do in terms of fulfilling our own dreams and accomplishments. If we said “no” and we felt bad about it, we’d likely avoid saying “no” again because of the negative feelings associated with it.</p>
<p>But if we felt good about saying “no” (especially after reading this article!), we would feel empowered and be more likely to say “no” again with an air of confidence.</p>
<p>Don’t let limiting beliefs hold you back – recognize where you’ve been saying “yes” when you haven’t wanted to, and address those situations the next time they come up. It’s not a sin to say “no” – <em>it’s a free choice</em>.</p>
