The Higher Mind vs. The Lower Mind [Meaning]

What does the higher mind mean?

The higher mind can see from the mountain top, it can see things the lower mind cannot. The higher mind can see things before they happen, the lower mind can only perceive what is happening in the moment.

Getting the lower mind to work in conjunction with the higher mind is crucial for navigating your life journey.

The human mind is a complex and multifaceted entity, capable of a wide range of thoughts, emotions, and perceptions.

Within the realm of consciousness, the concepts of the lower and higher minds provide a framework for understanding different levels of awareness and thought processes.

In this exploration, we delve into the meaning of the lower and higher minds, examining how these aspects shape our experiences and influence our perspectives on life.

The Higher Mind and lower mind meaning.

In simple terms, the concepts of the “lower mind” and “higher mind” refer to different levels of consciousness or aspects of thinking:

  1. Lower Mind:

    • The lower is associated with everyday, practical thinking.

    • It involves day-to-day tasks, problem-solving, and routine activities.

    • This level is often linked to the ego, the individual’s sense of self and personal identity.

    • The lower is concerned with survival, desires, and pursuing personal goals.

  2. Higher Mind:

    • The higher is associated with a more elevated and expanded consciousness.

    • It involves deeper insights, intuition, and a broader perspective on life.

    • The higher transcends individual desires and ego, focusing on universal truths and interconnectedness.

    • It may be linked to spiritual awareness, wisdom, and a sense of purpose beyond individual goals.

In summary, the lower mind is tied to practical, everyday thinking and pursuing personal goals. In comparison, the higher mind is associated with a more profound understanding, intuition, and a connection to broader, universal truths.

The distinction is often used in discussions of personal development, spirituality, and the exploration of consciousness.

The Lower Mind

The lower is the more practical and everyday aspect of our consciousness. The part of the mind engages in routine tasks, problem-solving, and the pursuit of immediate goals.

Anchored in the realm of the ego, the lower is often concerned with self-preservation, desires, and the fulfillment of personal needs and ambitions.

In the lower, individuals navigate the challenges of daily life, make decisions based on immediate circumstances, and strive to meet personal objectives.

It is the realm of logical thinking and analytical reasoning, essential for addressing the demands of the material world.

However, the lower has its limitations.

It may be susceptible to biases, fears, and a narrow focus on individual concerns.

The ego, driving the lower, can create a sense of separation and individuality that may hinder a deeper connection with others and the broader universe.

The lower ego-mind needs to know how everything is going to turn out. It literally can’t stand to “not know.”

The Higher mind is FAST, way faster than thought. The Lower is slow and always tries to slow the higher mind down. It can’t; it only puts itself out of synchronicity with the higher by striving.

4 Levels of Consciousness

The Lower Mind Resists

A significant challenge for the lower is trusting what is. When the lower doesn’t understand what is happening, it melts down.

The antidote for this is trusting what is and knowing that you will receive what you need to know precisely when you need to understand it.

The lower starts looking for answers before a problem has even occurred. Information is received by the body from Consciousness to the higher mind, to the ego-mind to the brain.

This is how psychic channelers can communicate with beings from other dimensions and do a reading with you.

The ego-mind is the “gatekeeper” to higher awareness, so you must learn to do whatever it takes to get it to allow in information from the higher.

This is where 99% of humanity is stuck at the moment.

Higher Consciousness is knocking at our door with this great news, but our ego says, “Nah, can’t come in, buddy.”

Don’t worry, though. Millions are close to or have already woken up to their higher selves.

This resistance is similar to the battle between The Incredible Hulk and Dr. Bruce Banner regarding who controls the body.

Relax the Lower Mind

The key is to get the ego to relax and allow in the information.

Let it know that it is not threatened; it will not die. Tell the ego that it is now in partnership with the higher mind. This will allow the ego to loosen up and trust the higher.

It becomes like a game that you were designed to play and win. Have you ever noticed how people tend to ‘loosen up’ a little after someone has had a couple of drinks?

It’s the same reason that indigenous tribes would smoke or ingest something to gain spiritual clarity.

This is caused by the ego gatekeeper being relaxed and trusting, allowing the flow of information from the higher to the body receiver.

However, I am not advocating drinking, smoking, or ingesting something as an excuse to receive more heightened awareness.

You can commune with the higher mind through diet, meditation, and breathing exercises.

Remember, the ego is fear-based because it keeps you safe and protected. The problem is that the ego has gotten so fear-based that it has double-padlocked the door to higher Consciousness.

It’s time we remove the padlock and trust.

Higher Mind Meaning

In contrast, the higher mind represents a more elevated and expansive state of consciousness.

It is associated with deeper insights, intuition, and a broader perspective on life.

The higher mind transcends the limitations of the ego, embracing a sense of interconnectedness and unity with the larger fabric of existence.

Operating from the higher involves tapping into intuition, accessing wisdom beyond logical analysis, and recognizing universal truths.

This level of consciousness is often associated with spiritual awareness, a sense of purpose beyond individual goals, and an understanding of the profound interconnectedness of all things.

The higher mind invites individuals to explore questions of meaning, purpose, and the greater mysteries of life. It encourages a shift from a self-centric focus to a more inclusive and compassionate worldview.

Operating from the higher mind can lead to fulfillment, inner peace, and alignment with a higher purpose.

The lower comprises feelings and desires. We may desire to steal something, but our higher mind or intelligence lets us discriminate, “I should not do that.”

The higher is the part of your self that your higher self communicates through.

The higher is the part of your Consciousness that has already gone before you, so you must learn to trust it.

It would be like a trail guide that knows the jungle like the back of his hand.

He has traversed the terrain so many times and has gotten lost and made mistakes along the way, and because of his experiences, he would be the one to follow and trust. The same goes for your higher self.

  1. Conscious
  2. Subconscious
  3. Higher Mind or Higher Self

The Conscious mind would be like the Captain of a ship. He sees what needs to be done and orders the subconscious to carry them out.

The subconscious takes care of things, so we don’t need to do them consciously — breathing, making your heart pump, and feeling hunger or thirst.

Also, the subconscious is where we store emotional memories. That is often why you may still be afraid of dogs as an adult if you were bitten or attacked by one as a child.

The subconscious can also make changes in you through hypnosis. Many people have quit bad habits through hypnosis via the subconscious.

The higher mind is part of you that exists on a different plane of reality. It’s also called the spiritual mind because it is not part of the physical you but is still connected to you energetically.

Higher Mind Can See The Big Picture

It can see the big picture. It would be a good idea to get in touch with your mind as much as possible. Your upper mind is not loud; it will gently nudge and prod you but never push you.

Connecting with your upper self is easy once you learn to get past the constant lower self chatter. Practice this by being still in yourself.

After a while, it became easier to quiet it by going deep within myself. Remember, your conscious physical mind is like a child; it has a short attention span, gets whiny, and needs something to entertain it.

When I want to connect to my upper, I usually focus on my breathing or count backward from 10 to 1 while seeing the numbers in my imagination brightly and clearly and then disappearing.

The physical mind is like a kid; it needs distractions, so I recommend burning incense, such as sandalwood or lavender, to soothe the conscious.

The upper mind is much more intelligent than the ego because it knows we are all connected.

While the lower and higher are distinct aspects of consciousness, they are not mutually exclusive.

Achieving a harmonious balance between the two is often the key to a well-rounded and conscious life. Integration involves leveraging the practicality of the lower while embracing the wisdom and expanded awareness of the higher.

Meditationand self-reflection are commonly employed to foster a connection with the higher self.

These practices allow individuals to transcend the noise of everyday concerns, access deeper levels of consciousness, and cultivate a more profound understanding of self and the world.

Expanding To Your Higher Self

My online friend Wes Penre wrote a list of 11 Ways to know you are expanding your consciousness into a higher self.

1. Do you feel you’ve had enough power and control, overuse and misuse of technology, secrecy, inhumane actions against each other, wars, famine, punishment, injustice, or oppressive banking systems…? The list goes on.

2. Do you feel that you are growing and expanding yourself and your knowledge, that you are wiser today than you were six months ago or weeks ago?

3. Can you “love your enemy,” meaning those of darkness? Can you see that darkness is just another expression of yourself? Can you see they are here for a bigger purpose: to help the rest of us with our ascension process by being our catalysts?

Or are you still feeling hate, rage, or bitterness when you think about these forces controlling humankind in this density?

4. Can you love everybody and everything unconditionally?

5. Do you feel you are spreading light into the darkness in your local universe (your environment) just by being you? Are people often coming to you for advice and wanting to be in your space for no apparent reason? Do you mostly attract people of a higher frequency?

6. Do you understand that there will be a split in consciousness on this planet and that it will split into two main different worlds and eventually branch out into multiple realities?

7. Do you understand that the best thing you can do to help humanity personally is to evolve yourself and work on your progress? This way, you are like a candle in the dark.

And this light, little by little, is lightening up other candles as other people get triggered by your beingness and begin their spiritual journey. This will branch out and eventually dissolve the darkness.

8. Do you understand that “sacrificing” yourself by not working on your development instead of going in and working on solving other people’s problems is counter-productive and may slow them down rather than speed them up as it will your evolution?

Instead, giving them help to self-help is the absolute best way to go because this way, you are not interfering with the Law of Free Will and the person’s own experiences they need to have to raise their Consciousness.

9. Do you understand that your path is your path, and everybody else has their lessons to learn, which may differ significantly from yours? Are you grasping that there is no right or wrong way to do things, just in different ways?

Mistakes are helpful to make because that’s how we learn. Intelligence is measured by how often you make the same mistakes, not so much if you make them.

10. Do you understand that the intellect is limited in raising your Consciousness? Intuition and “Inner Knowledge” are senior to the mind because the former has lower vibration.

11. Do you know that by judging others, you judge yourself? We are all ONE, and what happens to one person happens to us all. The things you don’t like in another person are the same things you don’t like in yourself.

The concepts of the lower and higher minds offer valuable insights into the intricacies of human consciousness.

Understanding and navigating these aspects can contribute to personal growth, a deeper connection with others, and a more profound sense of purpose.

As we explore the depths of our minds, we can embrace both the practicality of the lower self and the expansive awareness of the higher self on our journey toward a more conscious and fulfilling existence.
